As a company, M & S are currently entering an exciting period of growth and development. Whilst we are continuing to excel in our many areas of expertise, we are endeavoring to develop our range of services to ensure that we continue to exceed our customers’ expectations.
As part of this continued company progression, we are delighted to announce our accreditation to the Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS). This allows companies that hold it, such as M&S, to carry out works associated with the installation of water infrastructure. Companies who are part of this scheme are known as Self-Lay Providers (SLP). Through our strong working relationships with established Water Companies, as well as a host of other clients, we possess what no other Self Lay Provider can offer, which we believe makes us a standard bearer in the industry.
Do I need an SLP?
Any main which is due to be adopted by the Water Company must be laid by an accredited SLP. This is to ensure all utility groups work to a nationwide standard. If your development requires main laying for a Private Network, we will manage and deliver your project to the quality and standard required by utility companies.
Why M&S?
We carry full accreditation for the laying of new mains and new service connections, ensuring that we are competent and all our engineers hold the correct qualifications and training to carry out all contestable works for new developments. We also offer services beyond the Customer’s boundary if require, such as building internal risers and manifold set ups in blocks of flats and installing services from the meter box terminating internally with a double check valve.
All our engineers are fully WIAPS trained which means there are no extra charges from the water companies to check regulations have been met, allowing us to provide quotes that are as competitive as possible.
We have a dedicated Self Lay Department with office based project managers who are always available to help and engineers willing to work day, night & weekends to deliver your project.
Our Services
Here at M&S we can offer turn-key solutions, ranging from making the application to the Water Company, commissioning the new main, making the final service connection as well as setting up new customer accounts. We can also take care of other utility services that may be required on site, such as Gas or Electric installations. We are able to meet all specific requirements utilising long-standing relationships with partner companies.
Diversions/Reinforcement
If you require existing mains diverting, or the Water Company have deemed that network reinforcements are required to meet the demand of a new development, we are fully qualified and competent to undertake these works.
Utilising our own signing, lighting & guarding apparatus and experience gained in working in the highway, M&S can set up site, excavate, backfill and reinstate to Local Authority specifications.
Other Services
Self-Lay is a new addition to the services offered by M & S who are a long-standing business that has been trading since 1997 when the company was set up to bridge the gap between water companies and the customer that domestic plumbers do not fulfill. Since incorporation M&S has steadily grown into a successful business providing specialist services to a large portfolio of customers, ranging from domestic householders to water authorities. M&S continue to provide expertise in a number of fields such as underground water, plumbing, drainage, no dig trenchless technology, fusion welding, leak detection, civil engineering and RPZ valve testing & commissioning.
